Kids With a Cause

Matthew has been an Ambassador for Kids With A Cause since 2006 and offers his support to this worthwhile organization whenever he can. Kids With A Cause is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that lends a helping hand to the children of the world who, through no fault of their own, suffer from poverty, lack of education or health-related issues. Kids With A Cause is a 501(c)(3) charity organization based in Los Angeles and is also associated with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations. This dual status allows Kids With A Cause to create programs that help children throughout the world realize their full potential in health, peace and dignity.

Matthew donates as much time as he can through a variety of activities with the charity. He is currently raising funds to build a school and housing in one of the poorest parts of Nicaragua. He also travels to Los Angeles to attend some of the Kids With A Cause  programs and events that offer a "hand up" to less fortunate youth & teens. He reaches out to children all around and shows them that you can help at any age by spreading the word or helping other children/friends that are in need.

Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge

Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge (TCWR) is a big cat sanctuary that was developed in 1997, founded in 1998 (The Year of the Tiger), and officially opened to the public on May 15, 1999. The refuge was started by Brian Werner and Terri Werner. Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge operates as a registered assumed name and is a division of Tiger Missing Link Foundation (TMLF). The facility is dedicated to the Memory of Nasaba, a Lion Cub who we continue to miss even to this day!

Tiger Creek is nestled in the gentle rolling hills and valleys of the piney woods of East Texas. Just 490 feet above sea level at 32 degrees, 31.373 minutes North by 95 degrees, 15.824 minutes west, the site is heavily wooded with Oaks, Hickory, Pines and Dog Wood Trees and is divided by a spring fed creek named Tiger Creek. The facility is run by 4 employees, a small staff of volunteers, and its board members. Tiger Creek currently is in the growth stage working towards creating larger more natural habitats for the resident cats.

UCP Wheels for Humanity

Matthew enthusiastically supports this great cause.  He was really touched by his trip with UCP down to Tijuana, Mexico. Matthew helped hands-on with the staff and volunteers and plans on taking more trips with UCP in the future.

UCP Wheels for Humanity's mission is to provide increased self-sufficiency, mobility, and education to people with disabilities throughout the world, without regard to political affiliation, religious belief, or ethnic identity. Staff and volunteers at UCP Wheels for Humanity collect and refurbish used wheelchairs.  The organization then individually fits them to the impoverished children and adults in developing countries. Since 1996, UCP Wheels for Humanity has helped thousands of people with disabilities each year gain increased mobility and freedom.

Wheels for Humanity incorporated into a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit. Now the organization operates from a 10,880-square-foot warehouse in North Hollywood, California, where a small professional staff and a large volunteer workforce collect donated wheelchairs and refurbish them to suit the needs of the individuals for whom they are intended.  These are people who would otherwise be unable to afford a wheelchair.

In January of 2007, Wheels for Humanity joined the United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties family of organizations - formally becoming UCP Wheels for Humanity. This partnership enables UCP Wheels to increase its capacity to deliver more equipment, serve more children and adults with disabilities, improve quality of life, and make positive change  around the world.
